It’s time to ‘glow up’ your home this Autumn and create a cosy sanctuary

As the nights draw in and the temperatures drop, this Autumn and Winter it's unlikely that we will be out in our party sequins so it's officially time to get cosy at home instead.

“The perfect antidote to dark, cold and creepy is light, warm and cozy.”
Candice Olson, Interior Designer

Creating a cosy home gives you a safe haven, a warm and relaxing atmosphere, and somewhere comforting where you can just ‘be’. In the cooler months especially, you should be able to look forward to being at home, feeling the stresses of the day melt away and snuggling in for the night.

Here at Pearl & Linen, lighting is everything for us when it comes to creating a cosy atmosphere. From both real andartificial candles, to LED decorations and decorative pieces that emit a warm enveloping glow. Practical lighting is still a necessity, but don’t forget that you could use a variety oflamps orfairy lights to set a very inviting and relaxing mood in any room.

Candles and room diffusers can be used to create both a warming and subdued atmosphere that relaxes the senses even more, and we love rich, masculine scents such as amber, tobacco, leather and oud - all rich autumn/winter scents that will have you diving for the nearest blanket. If you already have your favourite candles at the ready, maximise their impact by placing them on amirrored tray, in cute dishes or up on astatement candle stand

Talking of blankets, texture is so important and a tactile home is a cosy home. Think throwpillows, blankets and lots of natural wood. Wood instantly warms a room, even if just a hint. You can create a cozy home with wood elements like hardwood floors, wood furniture like a dresser or coffee table, wood shelving or accents like bowls, pedestals and trays.

Finally, the dream connotations of cosy include a fireplace, and if you are lucky enough to have one now is the perfect time to make sure that it is swept, functioning efficiently and safely, and ready to be the beating heart of your room. Ourcompanion sets are perfect for maintaining your fireplace, or if it's a mantle or hearth that needs some accessorising, take a look at items such asphoto frames to house pictures of your family and friends that will make you smile every time.
